Los Angeles, CA — The Los Angeles Harbor College Seahawks put on a commanding performance against crosstown rival Los Angeles City College, sweeping the Cubs in straight sets (25–14, 25–17, 25–18) behind a balanced attack and relentless service pressure.

Set One: Seahawks Take Control Early

After trading points to open the match, Harbor pulled away thanks to strong serving from Helen Diaz, who rattled off three consecutive aces to put the Seahawks ahead 12–5. Rachel Cumming and Janessa Ferguson anchored the front line, combining for key blocks and kills as Harbor extended its lead. Iliana Lopez added another ace, and Harbor capitalized on City’s errors to close the set 25–14.

Set Two: Cumming and Silva Shine

The second frame saw Harbor again seize momentum early, with Mylah Good and Cumming registering timely kills. Mia Silva showcased her all-around game, delivering a service ace and a kill to stretch the lead to 16–8. While City strung together a brief rally behind Brenda Rodriguez and Abigail Valencia Ben, Harbor responded with steady play from setters Kaylee Nakagawa and Lauren Villaneda, who kept the offense flowing. A late kill by Silva sealed the 25–17 win.

Set Three: Harbor Closes the Door

With the sweep in sight, Harbor came out firing in the third set. Julia Sanchez and Ferguson teamed up for an early block, and Silva ripped an ace to make it 6–0, forcing City to burn a quick timeout. The Cubs fought back behind Jayda Hernandez’s kills, trimming the deficit to 16–19, but Harbor’s composure held. Cumming hammered a kill at 24–18, and Ferguson capped the match with a block to secure the sweep.
