Seahawks Ride Explosive Start to 10–5 Win Over San Bernardino Valley
April 17, 2025 – Wilmington, CA — The Los Angeles Harbor College baseball team came out swinging Thursday afternoon, plating five runs in the first inning and never relinquishing the lead en route to a 10–5 victory over San Bernardino Valley College.
The win showcased both offensive power and situational execution from the Seahawks, who improved their standing in the conference with a complete team performance at home.
First Inning Outburst Sets the Tone
The game opened with an offensive barrage by LA Harbor. After R. Martinez crossed the plate on an RBI single by A. Roman, the floodgates opened. With the bases loaded, I. Aguilar ripped a double to left that cleared the bags and turned into a little-league triple after an error in left field, scoring three more runs. A sacrifice fly by E. Mora capped off the five-run first, with Aguilar coming home to make it 5–0.
SBVC Rallies, But Seahawks Respond
San Bernardino Valley responded with four unanswered runs between the second and third innings, helped in part by defensive miscues. A wild pitch brought home one in the second, and three unearned runs came across in the third, including an RBI triple by J. Guzman and a single from M. Soto that made it a one-run game at 5–4.
But the Seahawks remained composed. In the bottom of the fourth, J. Unterburg’s hustle on the basepaths paid off as C. Anderson drove him in with a sacrifice fly to make it 6–4.
After SBVC added another in the sixth, LA Harbor answered once again in the bottom half. With the bases loaded, B. Luna took one for the team—literally—getting hit by a pitch to force in a run and give the Seahawks a 7–5 cushion.
Late-Game Power and Insurance
The dagger came in the seventh, when A. Roman crushed a solo home run to left field—his second RBI of the game—stretching the lead to 8–5. The Seahawks tacked on two more in the eighth. E. Brenes scored on a sacrifice fly by Luna, and C. Hernandez followed with a double to center that brought home R. Martinez for the final run of the day.
